Governor Otti's Leadership in Abia State: A Year in Review

This article presents an independent review of Dr Alex Otti’s leadership as Governor of Abia State in his first year in office (May 29th, 2023, to May 29th, 2024). The review involves a detailed appraisal of Governor Otti’s performance across the critical areas of Abia’s economy. The review took into consideration Governor Otti’s campaign promises, the performance of Governor Otti’s contemporaries, cash inflow into the state during his first year in office, and feedback from Abians across various platforms. 

Using the governor’s achievements on ground (most of which have been posted on the government’s website and on different media platforms), data from Abia Government published financial reports, and feedback from various sources, Governor Otti has been assessed based on his improvement or otherwise of the following areas of Abia’s economy - Security, Education, Health, Transportation, Economy, Unemployment & Poverty Reduction, Social Security, Trade and Commerce, Industrialisation, Agriculture & Food Security, Energy Supply, Water Supply, Environmental Protection, Rural Development, Efficiency of Governance & Integrity of Governance.
